Aishwarya Rai And Sridevi Were The First Choice For ‘Mohra’ And Not Raveen Tandon, Deets Inside
Raveena Tandon is still famous among the people for ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’. She has been casting her acting magic for two to three decades. Apart from the actress, Sunil Shetty and Akshay Kumar were also seen in Rajiv Mehra’s ‘Mohra’ released in 1994. There was another song in it that became very popular and that was, ‘Tu cheez badi hai mast mast.’ This movie made everyone’s career shine. But Raveena Tandon was not the first choice for this. This movie was first offered to Aishwarya Rai and Sridevi. But they rejected it.

The co-screenplay writer of this movie, Shabbir Boxwala, has revealed this in an interview. It is said that before approaching Raveena Tandon, the makers went to the doors of Aishwarya Rai and Sridevi. Not only this, he made another revelation. According to him, the making of the film started first with Divya Bharti. The makers had also shot with her for a few days but everything was stopped due to her sudden demise. Then the producers tried hard to bring a new face in her place.

In an interview given to ‘Bollywood Hungama’, Shabbir Boxwala said that at that time Sridevi was a big star and Aishwarya had not started her career. Both of them were offered this movie. He says, ‘I saw Aishwarya’s pictures and liked them. Rajiv asked me to call her. But she could not do the film because she was preparing for Miss World.’ By the way, ‘Mohra’ was not the only film that was offered to Aishwarya, she was also offered Yash Chopra’s ‘Darr’.

He also said that this film was offered to Sridevi but the actress did not take this film because Akshay and Sunil were yet to prove themselves in films. ‘And yes, we also offered Mohra to Sridevi. However, we did not have big heroes. Akshay and Sunil were not famous. So, any heroine was thinking twice before saying yes to Mohra. No one had even dreamt that one song ‘Tu cheez badi hai mast mast’ would change everything for Akshay and the film.’
When the producers finally offered the film to Raveena, she was initially hesitant to take it up, and that was because the film’s song ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’ had a kissing shot between her and Akshay. Shabbir said, ‘Raveena met Rajiv. She knew it was a good project, but she was a little confused because there was a kissing scene in the song Tip Tip Barsa Paani. Raveena said that her father would not like all this. To which Rajiv said, don’t show the film to your father, after which Raveena agreed.’
