‘Couldn’t Sleep, Hands Used To Shake’: Mahira Khan On Backlash After Smoking Pictures With Ranbir Kapoor Went Viral!
Pakistani actress Mahira Khan is not famous in her country but is also a renowned personality in our nation. Her shows which aired in the India became a rage and made her a popular name in no time. The actress subsequently received an offer from Bollywood. She got lucky to work with superstar Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Raees’.
But unfortunately, just before the release of her debut movie, the two frenemy nations declared war after things went kaput between them. All of it took a toll on her mental health. Now, in a recent interview, the actress has opened up about backlash she faced during Raees’ release and after her photos with Ranbir emerged online. She revealed receiving threats for the same.
Mahira opens up on her mental health
Mahira said that the chain of events brought out the anxiety and depression hidden inside her. Her mental health struggle began after she was diagnosed with manic depression by a psychiatrist. While in conversation with FWhy Podcast, the actress shared that she had finished the ‘Raees’ and everything was going fine. Then suddenly, Uri attack happened which messed up things politically. She said that she was not scared, but was threatened. She received constant hate tweets, and scary calls.
Talking about her scandalous snaps with Ranbir, Mahira stated that she dealt with immense ‘unexpected’ backlash. She called it a hard time as she felt attacked. The actress mentioned how she was receiving mean tweets, and comments on Indian channels. Mahira asserted that all this broke her faith broke and she developed severe anxiety to the point that one day she had a panic attack and fainted. She went for therapists that year. The actress said that she couldn’t sleep and her hands used to shake at that time. Mahira added that she has been on antidepressants for the past 6-7 years.
For the unversed, Mahira Khan has won hearts with her shows like ‘Humsafar’ and ‘Shehr-e-Zaat’. She appeared last in Pakistani blockbuster ‘The Legends Of Maula Jatt’. Mahira is now preparing to begin shooting for Pakistan’s first Netflix Original ‘Jo Bachey Hain Sang Samet Lo’.
