The importance of a cause can be gauged from the fact that despite all odds and prior obligations, the celebrity performers put up a fantastic musical show at the Mavlankar Auditorium, last Saturday evening . The musical concert organised by an NGO, People For Animal (PFA) to raise funds for rehabilitation and protection of animals, had array of performers including singer Rabbi Shergill, Euphoria Band, Maadhyaam rock band and guitarist Dhruv Vishvanath.

Palash2Menaka Gandhi, Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development and chairperson of PFA, while addressing the audience in the beginning of evening expressed heartfelt thank to all the celebrity performers, “I am really thankful to all the performers performing today. They have been supporting us from many years. I would specially like to thank Dr Palash Sen who despite having a rib injury is performing today to support the cause and Rabbi Shergill who has his son’s birthday today but he has made the effort to come for us, leaving the celebration back at home. The money that we make through this event which is the only one we have during the year, has a vast support.

PFA has rescued around 4,000 camels. The count of camels that we had some years back was around 10 lac which has dropped down to just 35,000 camels left in the country. So now we have a dedicated camel shelter in Sirohi. In last one week we have stopped the terrible testcalled the draize test” shared the minister while expressing concern over cruelty against animals. It took us 17 years for us to stop the test. Draize test was initially used for testing cosmetics, the procedure involves applying 0.5mL or 0.5g of a test substance to the eye or skin of a restrained, conscious animal, and then leaving it for set amount of time before rinsing it out and recording its effects.
