He has also worked with filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani for films like Shola Aur Shabnam, Aankhen, Ilzaam, and others. Recently, Pahlaj told the reason for the downfall of Govinda’s career. Talking to Friday Talkies on YouTube, the producer said that Govinda gradually became superstitious. Apart from this, he was always a little naive.

Citing examples to support his claims, Pahlaj said that he used to say that a chandelier was about to fall on the set and, therefore, would ask everyone to move aside. The producer further added that there were times when Govinda would instruct people to change their clothes based on his superstitions.

“Not just that, he would also refuse to do certain tasks on certain days and had a habit of coming late for shooting. “All this, combined with his laziness and naivety, led to his downfall,” Pahlaj Nihalani said. In the same interview, Pahlaj Nihalani said that Govinda’s claim that he was offered James Cameron’s film Avatar was not true at all. He further added that the actor mistook the Hollywood hit for his unfinished Hindi film Avatar, for which he had shot for 40 minutes. But the film was later shelved.
