“I Was Insulted For Being Dark” Mithun Chakraborty On Receiving The National Awards, Read To Know More

Veteran actor of the Hindi film industry Mithun Chakraborty was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. These awards were given for the year 2022 and several personalities from the entertainment industry were awarded. The National Award ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. President of India Draupadi Murmu presented the awards to all the winners.

Before receiving the award on stage, Mithun Chakraborty became emotional during the program after seeing a glimpse of his professional journey in Bollywood. Despite a fracture in his hand, he personally reached the program to receive the honor from the President. The actor accepted the award and was photographed with the President on stage while receiving the award. After this, he addressed the audience and also shared some unheard stories with the people.

While receiving the award, the actor said, “After winning the first National Award, I got a lot of congratulations from people, after which I started getting a little crazy.” He further said, “A screening was held in Mumbai, in which it was said that if you like Mrigayaa, then it will be distributed. After this, when he asked the organizer of the screening about the film, he said that he liked the film, but I am thinking how you will look in clothes.”

Mithun further said, “I was shocked to hear him. After this, I remembered that the character I played in Mrigayaa did not wear clothes on top. He further said that after winning the National Award, I started thinking of myself as Al Pacino.” He said that a lot was said in the industry because of his dark complexion, people used to tell him that dark complexion would not get him work in the film industry.
