‘It Was Made For…’: When Kareena Kapoor Said She Was Glad To Quit ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’
Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has come a long way in the industry. She has left an impression on the hearts of audiences with her outstanding performances. Kareena made her acting debut with 2000 film ‘Refugee’ alongside Abhishek Bachchan. But that was not the film she was supposed to enter the industry with.
Actually, Kareena was first offered Rakesh Roshan’s romantic hit ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ opposite Hrithik Roshan. However, things didn’t materialise and the actress quit the film to get replaced by Ameesha Patel. While talking about her decision of her dropping from the film, Kareena once said that she was glad to have done that.
Kareena revealed why she left ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’
In an old interview, Kareena admitted that she would have definitely received better deals if she had starred in ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’. But she wanted to make a name as an ‘actress’ instead. According to Kareena, the attention would have divided between her and Hrithik if she had said ‘yes’ to the film. She had stated, “So, I’m happy I didn’t take up the film. And it’s great that even after I left the movie there is no problem between Hrithik and me. He’s still a friend, I’m happy for his success.”
Revealing the reason behind not taking up ‘Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai’, Kareena said that the film was made only for Hrithik. His dad Rakesh had spent five hours on every frame and close-up of his, and not even five seconds were spent on Ameesha. “There were scenes in the film where Ameesha has pimples and under-eye bags on her face. She just doesn’t look beautiful, but every shot of Hrithik was a dream,” quoted Kareena.
Meanwhile, Kareena and Hrithik have collaborated for films like ‘Yaadein’, ‘Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, and ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge!’.
