As man walked relentlessly for
miles and miles,
Macmillan invented the bicycle
bringing about cheerful smiles.
Tired of tedious pedalling, Benz
brought a gift later
When he invented motor car for the
weary traveller.
Following closely behind was a big name
called Savery who achieved great fame
When he discovered steam engine for
rail transportation,
Enabling one and all to reach faster
Their destination.
Not just satisfied with mere railways,
Man wished to fly high up through
airways
So Wright Brothers invented
the aeroplane,
And he started reaching places
without strain.
Any place with ease he could now roam
But man soon craved for
entertainment at home,
And lo! Edison invented the gramophone
That transported him to the musical zone.
Not to be left behind in the field
of communication and entertainment,
Marconi invented radio for
listeners’ enjoyment.
To fulfil human desire to talk
to persons far away
Graham Bell invented
telephone, a boon all the way.
Then came the desire to see pictures
and hear voices together,
And Baird stepped in to invent
television to change our lifestyle
altogether.
Modern man needed a machine to
program, design and print with felicity
And the great Charles Babbage invented computer with enormous capacity.
We salute you, our dedicated
scientists for your glorious inventions
Bringing immense benefits in the
lives of our generations!
