Chris Hemsworth has been quickly changing his lifestyle to avoid Alzheimer’s disease after learning that he is at a very high risk of developing it in the future. Last year, while filming his National Geographic docuseries “Limitless” with Chris Hemsworth, he discovered that he has an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease due to the gene APOE e4. This shifted his perspective on life. Since then, the Marvel star has made numerous modifications to his routine, lifestyle, and exercise programme.

“You assume you’ll live forever when you’re young. “Then to be told that this could be the thing that takes you out was like, whoa it kinda floored me,” he remarked on his docuseries. Here’s what the 40-year-old said about his new schedule and preferences.

Notably, Hemsworth’s DNA carries two copies of the APOE4 gene, making him eight to ten times more susceptible to develop Alzheimer’s disease. His condition places him among the two to three percent of the world’s population who are vulnerable due to a copy of the gene from both parents.

According to the Thor actor, “it had been a nice kick in the arse and a reminder to do anything is in my power in order to give myself a good fighting chance.” He also mentioned that anything he does to improve his brain health has a knock-on effect on the rest of his body, which is a huge plus.

In a recent interview with Men’s Health, the Australian star stated that he is prioritising his health, with a particular emphasis on improving his mental health. He also revealed that he has altered some of his daily routines and stated, “Now, I’m considering more solitude into my life.”

In an interview, Chris stated, “I’ve always been pretty dedicated to my workout commitments, but lately I’ve gained an appreciation for taking some time for oneself without an external voice or stimulation,” said the actor.

The Extraction actor is making sure he gets enough sleep. He limits his screen usage an hour before bed and reads most evenings before falling asleep and taking ice baths on a regular basis to improve his health.

“As a result of my various roles and my desire to challenge my body in different ways, I fluctuate a lot in terms of my weight,” he explained.

“The number of weightlifting sessions I am doing has reduced and I have added more cardio and endurance workouts, which are much more enjoyable than heavy bodybuilding sessions,” he revealed.

He closed the talk by saying that the possibility of developing Alzheimer’s has made him think about his children and how they’re growing up, and he simply wants to sit and soak it all in. Finally, he stated that he did not want to be in a race anymore. “I only want to be here to appreciate everything I am seeing.” he said.

What Is Alzheimer’s Disease?

Alzheimer’s disease is a brain disorder that gradually deteriorates a person’s memory and ability to think. Those who suffer from it eventually struggle to complete even the most basic duties. As a result of the disease, different areas of the brain are impacted, resulting in the breakdown of connections between nerve cells.
