‘People In Bombay Look Down On South films’, Anil Kapoor’s 35-Year Old Statement On North V/S South Goes Viral!
The ever green actor of Bollywood Anil Kapoor has ruled millions of hearts with his films. Even today when many young actors have made their mark in the industry, Kapoor’s charm remain unmatched. Though the actor started his journey with South films, he later on shifted focus on Hindi films. But Anil enjoys a genuine fan base in South also. Today when the debate of North vs South is on its peak, a statement on the same by the actor from his 1987 interview has grabbed attention on social media.
Recently, the Mr. India actor participated in actor round table conference 2022 conducted by film critic Anupama Chopra. During the conversation, the question of slow death of stardom in Bollywood was also raised. In response to this question, Anil said, ‘To tell you the truth, I do not think so deeply. I am not the right person to talk on this subject.’ Anil’s answer left everyone in splits.
Though Anil refrained from commenting on Bollywood v/s South argument, his 35 years old opinion on the same was dug out by netizens. In his old interaction, the 66-year-old actor is heard saying, ‘There are people in Bombay who look down on South films, but in a way you can say that South films have entertained people all over India. They may be called crude, but they are films liked by all.’
‘People may make fun of South’s films, but their audience base is huge. South films are made by intelligent people. They make basic films, but there are films which are understandable even to the illiterate people of the country,’ he added.
Apart from Anil Kapoor, the actors round table was attended by Ayushmann Khurrana, Varun Dhawan, Rajkummar Rao, Dulquer Salmaan, Rishab Shetty, Vijay Sharma, Sheeba Chadha, Vidya Balan and Janhvi Kapoor.
