Priyanka Chopra Shares 5 Quintessential Life Lessons She Learned From Mother Madhu Chopra
Priyanka Chopra is well-known for being a talent agency all by herself, but her mom Madhu Chopra has a big role in getting her where she is. Madhu Chopra was an army surgeon as well as a businesswoman but she left her career to raise her daughter into the Priyanka Chopra.
So to become as strong and wise as Priyanka Chopra, you must follow the pearls of wisdom her mom Madhu Chopra keeps threading from time to time.
Here is what PeeCee enlists as some of the most profound lessons she learned from her mom.
1. Be financially independent
Financial independence is something Madhu Chopra strongly believes in. In fact, our Citadel actor called it ‘the soundest advice’ of her life in an interview
“Financial independence is paramount. My mom always says that when a woman is financially independent, she has the ability to live life on her own terms. I think that was the soundest advice that I ever got.”
2. Don’t be afraid to think, speak and express
Priyanka Chopra was taught 3 rights from the very beginning – Right of Thought, Right of Speech, and Right of Expression.
“Both my kids (Priyanka and Siddhant) had the right of thought, right of speech, and the right of expression,” Madhu Chopra once shared in an interview with Hauterrfly. “What happened with this was they became confident, they were never scared of speaking, at least in front of their parents. Then it became a part of their nature. They became expressive.”
3. Stay close to people who constantly support you
Madhu Chopra doesn’t believe in pressurizing children. Probably that’s the reason Priyanka went on to excel and still does! The absence of pressure allows you to grow wings, setting you on the path to success.
“We always told her, this is not ‘Do or Die’. You can always go back, take up studies, or take up some other career. You have a lot of options. If not this, then that.” Madhu Chopra said in an interview.
4. Treat yourself like a queen
Priyanka learned early on that if she wants to be respected and valued big, she will have to behave like a rupee and not a paise.
“Priyanka ko main ek hi phrase bolti thi, tum apne aap ko chavanni manogi, chavanni jaise behave karogi, toh duniya tumhe chavanni jaise treat karegi. Apne app ko rupaiya samjho, bada samjho, rupaiye jaisa behave karo…be proud. Toh duniya tumhe…perception ki baat hai. (I always told Priyanka that if you treat yourself like a quarter of a rupee, you will always be treated like that. Take yourself as a rupee, behave like a rupee. Then only the world will treat you the same. It’s a matter of self-perception.” clarified Madhu Chopra in Josh Talks Asha.
5. Prioritize yourself
Priyanka can prioritize herself only because her mom has been a profound example herself. In an interview with The Post, India, here is what Madhu Chopra said:
“As a mother, I told Priyanka – and I still stick by my words – the most important thing to do is to prioritize yourself. You are the most important person in your family. If you are important and value yourself, everybody around values you. You have to be proud, confident, and sure of yourself.”
