Saira Banu Recalls Getting Jealous Of Dilip Kumar And Vyjayanthimala’s Proximity, ‘Took Scissors And…’
Veteran actress Saira Banu is counted among the evergreen heroines of Bollywood. She mesmerised the nation with her subtle yet gorgeous looks and exceptional acting mettle in 60s. The actress who made stepped in films at the age of 16 was just 22 year old when she married late legendary actor Dilip Kumar. What followed was an adorable tale of admiration, love, and togetherness. Till today, Saira and Dilip love story is an inspiration for millions.
After making her debut on Instagram, the iconic actress has been sharing some unheard anecdotes from her and Dilip’s love life. In her recent post, she shared a priceless memory from her younger days. She dropped a series of pictures featuring the closest people in her life- Dilip and yesteryear actress Vyjayanthimala.
Alongside the photos, Saira recalled the year 1958, when she was a teenager living in London. She said that her mother knew she was crazy about Indian films and so she would intermittently post ‘Filmfare Magazine’ for her entertainment. It so happened that once, the actress’ mother posted a magazine which had photo from Dilip and Vyjayanthimala’s film ‘Madhumati’. In the frame, Dilip was romantically resting his face on Vyjayanthimala’s forehead. Saira being a crazy fan of Dilip could not bear it and did something which she feels embarrassed about even today.
The actress remembered she felt so jealous of Dilip and Vyjayanthimala’s closeness that she tore the picture into halves. She stated, “It was a beautiful photo, and in my childishness, I got so jealous of Sahib’s proximity with her that I took a pair of scissors and deftly started to snip away that portion of the photograph.”
For the unversed, Saira Banu married her crush Dilip Kumar on 11 October 1966. The couple have no children. They had conceived in 1972. However, due to complications in pregnancy, they lost their child. Post that, they never tried for kids.
