Gomez wore a dark purple velvet Valentino gown from the label’s couture winter 2022 collection. The strapless gown had oversized purple silk sleeves.
Her sibling, on the other hand, wore a sparkly champagne-colored gown with identical shoes and handbag.
Gomez being nominated for best performance by an actress in a television series, comedy, or musical for her role as Mabel Mora in the Hulu series, according to People magazine.
Although she did not win the category, Selena Gomez may have won the internet by appearing to respond to users who left negative comments about her body after photos and videos of her at the event were shared online.
According to People, Selena Gomez addressed the critics while chatting with her 9-year-old sister, Gracie Elliott Teefey, in a recorded Instagram Live video reposted via Pop News Daily account on TikTok.
Selena stated in the video that she gained weight because she overindulged during the holidays before turning to her sibling and confirming with Gracie. They both began to laugh later.
She told her followers, “I’m a little bit bigger now because I had a great time over the holidays,” and turning to Gracie and asking, “Right?”
Gomez burst out laughing after Gracie showed up to agree with the singer.
Gomez, who has long had a tricky relationship with social media and even deleted it from her phone in 2019, teased her return to Instagram earlier this week.
Selena Gomez recently hinted at a return to the app by posting a series of three bathroom selfies taken from her own mobile, which featured a purple case imprinted with butterflies.
In the past, Gomez has been quick to shut down trolls who were body shaming her while also promoting body positivity. She believes in body positivity and is content with her own body.
