Shah Rukh Khan previously revealed in an interview with India Today Magazine that he cannot perform in front of his wife, Gauri Khan. Even though SRK had not yet achieved widespread recognition with the release of DDLJ, he was well-liked in India at the time for his roles in movies such as Darr, Karan Arjun, and Baazigar. Giving the following explanation for the same, he had said: “I’ll be acting in front of someone who knows me really well.”

During the same interview, Shah Rukh Khan’s seatmate, producer Vivek Vaswani, revealed additional information regarding the actor’s relationship with his wife, Gauri. Explaining the fundamental nature of Shah Rukh and Gauri’s bond, Vivek said that while Shah Rukh can survive without oxygen, he cannot survive without Gauri. Additionally, he disclosed that there is never conflict between the couple, saying: “Shah Rukh can live without oxygen but not without Gauri. They never fight. When she shouts, he listens. He is absolutely besotted with her.”
When SRK revealed that he proposed to Gauri multiple times
In a previous interview with Preity Zinta, SRK disclosed that he made several proposals to Gauri prior to receiving a resounding “Yes.” He continued by saying that, despite the advice of his producers to remain single at the start of his career, he was adamant on getting married to his lady love. He expressed:
“I told her, let’s get married. She refused even then, she was quite hard-hearted. A year later, my mother died so she felt sorry for me. So she said let’s get married. She didn’t want me to be an actor. So I said okay let’s marry. My producers said not to marry, ‘Bachelor hero ki fan following zyada hoti hai’, but I said, ‘Mushkil se pataya, shaadi karni padegi’.”
Shah Rukh Khan co-starred in the 1994 romantic comedy Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa alongside Deepak Tijori and Suchitra Krishnamoorthy. Gauri, Shah Rukh’s wife, would frequently stop by the set to spend time with him because they were recently married. Suchitra Krishnamoorthy once discussed seeing Shah Rukh and Gauri’s love for one another in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. She also disclosed how he would treat her at work. Recalling, Suchitra did: “We were witnessing it on the set with Gauri. The way he was with Gauri, he used to be like she is made of rose petals, you know the way he used to treat her. It was just so beautiful.”
