Shocking! Robbie Coltrane Aka Hagrid From Harry Potter Passed Away!

Robbie Coltrane, the Scottish-born actor, famously known for his role as Hagrid, the gamekeeper in Harry Potter, dies at 72 on October 14, 2022. He also played the role of Dr Eddie ‘Fitz’ Fitzgerald in a famous detective show, Cracker. It is a huge loss for all the Potterheads out there.

His agent, Belinda Wright gave a statement that confirmed the actor died in a hospital in Scotland. She said on her Twitter,” Robbie Coltrane probably be best remembered for decades to come as Hagrid in the Harry Potter films, a role which brought joy to children and adults alike all over the world.”

JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter also went on Twitter to share her condolences. She said, ”I’ll never know anyone remotely like Robbie again. He was an incredible talent, a complete one-off, and I was beyond fortunate to know him, work with him and laugh my head off with him. I send my love and deepest condolences to his family, above all his children.

Actor Stephen Fry who worked with him in Alfresco tweeted, “Such depth, power, and talent: funny enough to cause helpless hiccups and honking as we made our first TV show Alfresco. Farewell, you’ll be so dreadfully missed.”

Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who played the role of Harry Potter in the Harry Potter movie said, “Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met. He used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set. I’ve especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on Prisoner of Azkaban. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.”

Born in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1950, his career began in 1979 in the series Play for Today. Robbie was best known for his work in a BBC TV comedy series A Kick Up the Eighties. He also appeared in the 1983 comedy show, Alfresco. He gained prominent fame as criminal psychologist Dr Eddie “Fitz” Fitzgerald in the series Cracker (1993-1995). Robbie was a part of James bond, Ocean 11, Nun on the run, Flash Gordan, and Mona Lisa.
