Vijay Varma Reveals Designers Refused To Give Him Clothes For His Cannes Debut In 2013!
Bollywood actor Vijay Varma has carved a niche for himself in the acting industry with his powerful performances. But it was not a cakewalk for an outside like him to earn a name in Bollywood. Vijay who recently appeared at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival as part of Indian delegation revealed how he faced multiple rejections from designers when he made a debut at French Riviera in 2013.
Vijay said that when approached designers for clothing and styling before going to Cannes 2013, they said a clear ‘no’ as he was not a reputed name in the industry. In such a situation, the actor relied upon his friends clothes.
Sharing his experience, Vijay stated, “When I came here, I bought one jacket from Zara, which I could afford. But for the main event and two other occasions, they told me to wear a complete suit. I approached people, asking if any designer or stylist could help me out. Unfortunately, the response I received was disheartening. They said, ‘Who’s Vijay Varma? We don’t wanna dress anybody.'”
Vijay revealed that it was his friends who supported him at this time. While one of them gave him a Zara suit which he donned for the morning photocall, another stitched a tuxedo personally for Vijay’s red carpet-appearance.
Despite all the struggles, Vijay reached Cannes. He was there to represent his action thriller ‘Monsoon Shootout’, which also featured actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
For the unversed, Vijay is known for his remarkable performances in films like Darlings’ and ‘Dahaad’. Apart from films, Vijay has been causing a stir on social media for his alleged affair with actress Tamannaah Bhatia. The rumoured lovebirds were caught kissing on camera during New Year’s vacation in Goa. Since then, they have been captured with each other on multiple dinner dates.
