World Day of Audio Visual Heritage: 27th October
For years now, Tinka Tinka Foundation has been working on not just preserving but uplifting the heritage of Indian prisons by documenting the voices of Indian jails. Tinka Tinka Prison Reforms, a YouTube channel by Tinka Tinka is the only channel in India that is exclusively dedicated to prison reforms. Dr. Vartika Nanda has been tirelessly working on improving the perceptions regarding inmates and giving them a much-needed second chance at life.
On this occasion, we are releasing an unheard snippet of a speech by Dyaneshwar Mulay (Retd. IFS and currently a member of NHRC) on Tinka Tinka India Awards. The audio clip was recorded in 2016 and it contains a glimpse of the tremendous impact that Tinka Tinka has had on Indian jails and how it is continuing to progress in a space that had remained unoccupied for too long. While documentation of heritage has always been an important fact of the process, the history of jails and inmates has often flown under the radar.
Rarely has a thought been spared towards preserving their stories but Tinka Tinka Jail Radio is constantly engaged in this work, with an impressive collection of more than 78 episodes on YouTube. The channel by the name ‘Tinka Tinka Prison Reforms’ is the only Indian channel exclusively engaged in this space. These episodes provide a platform for the people in these jails to tell the accounts of their lives and grasp at a second chance at life.
Tinka Tinka Jail Radio podcasts are the only podcasts in India that are solely dedicated to prison reforms.
