83 Starring Ranveer Singh, Has Crossed The ₹100 Crore Mark In Just 17 Days- Deets Inside

The domestic box office for filmmaker Kabir Khan’s cricket drama 83 has surpassed Rs 100 crore, the producers said on Monday. The Ranveer Singh-starring picture has already grossed Rs 100.56 crore in India after seventeen days of release.

On its official Twitter account, Reliance Entertainment, one of the production houses behind 83, announced the news. The poster’s caption stated, “India scores a century!”

Khan defended the film’s box office performance in an earlier interview with PTI, calling 83 a “victim of the pandemic” and claiming that the picture performed well despite Covid-19 limitations such as the shutdown of cinema halls in certain areas and a theatre occupancy cap in critical territories.

Originally scheduled for release in April 2020, the film has been pushed back numerous times due to casting and pre-production delays, as well as the COVID-19 outbreak in India, culminating in the film being postponed entirely until 2020. The film had its international premiere on the 15th of December at the Red Sea International Film Festival and was distributed by Reliance Entertainment and PVR Pictures in 5,000 theatres worldwide on the 24th of December 2021 (Christmas Eve). Apart from the original form, the film was dubbed and released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Several stars from the film industry praised the film. The film was appreciated by significant people such as Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Suniel Shetty, Janhvi Kapoor, and others at a special premiere hosted for celebrities. Johar praised Singh’s acting and Khan’s direction, calling the film “a monumental achievement.” Kamal Haasan, who presented the Tamil version of the film, shared his thoughts on the film, noting that, ” It relives the moments of the 1983 World Cup” Rajinikanth lauded the movie, calling it “magnificent” and praising the cast and direction.

After seeing the film debut, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, and Madan Lal, members of the 1983 team, applauded the team.
