Days after the attack, the Mumbai Police arrested a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad, for the crime. Shahzad, who confessed to the assault, had reportedly entered India illegally. Police investigations revealed that he worked briefly at a Mumbai restaurant under the alias Bijoy Das before being dismissed by his employer in December 2024.

Bollywood veteran Bhagyashree expressed her shock over the incident and its implications for public safety. Speaking to ANI, the Maine Pyar Kiya actress said, “We who live in Mumbai are very shocked by what happened. The city, considered one of the safest in India, now feels tense after such an attack.” She also praised the Mumbai Police for their swift action in apprehending the suspect and called for the legal process to commence quickly.

Bhagyashree emphasized the need for improved border security to prevent illegal immigration. “Everyone’s safety is under a question mark, especially if an immigrant does something like this. Securing our borders is crucial,” she added.

According to police reports, Shahzad broke into the residence of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan with the intent to rob.
