Oscar and Grammy-winning composer A.R. Rahman has weaved his magic with his music in the upcoming film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’. He said that for him, the film’s producer Imtiaz Ali is like Mani Ratnam. Rahman attended the trailer launch of the film at Mehboob Studios in Bandra, Mumbai, on Thursday.

He was accompanied by director Imtiaz Ali, Diljit Dosanjh, and actress Parineeti Chopra. Rahman told the media, “Imtiaz is like Mani Ratnam for me. It’s rare to have such a deep bond with a fellow artist.”

He further said, “The journey with Imtiaz is more about exploring characters and stories together than anything else. Sometimes, I give him something that doesn’t fit perfectly, but he still makes it his own.”

The composer mentioned that he had originally given the song ‘Phir Se Ud Chala’ from the film ‘Rockstar’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, to someone else.

He stated that it was a very complex song, but Imtiaz sat with Irshad (the lyricist) and worked on the lyrics. Rahman said, “He told me, ‘Now I will come back to you fully prepared.”’ ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ will premiere on Netflix on April 12th.
