The longest and most persistent global campaign for justice for Sushant Singh Rajput continues vociferously even as the fog over his tragic death refuses to clear. A year on his family, fans- SSRians have not tired of demanding answers of the myriad agencies—CBI, NCB, ED- working on the case.
In the latest developments, Congress and the NCP have questioned the Center’s handling of the probe. They have also alleged that his tragic death was used as a ploy during the Bihar elections. Since the polls, much water has flown over the bridge. Sushant’s girlfriend, her family, and his manager were charged with abetment and breach of trust. A law student from Mumbai has today also filed a complaint requesting a fair probe with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). The CBI has reiterated that the investigation into his death is still very much on.
Social media has been abuzz for the last 13 months, urging the tight-lipped agencies to disclose their findings. Sushant Singh was found dead at his rented Mont Blanc residence in Bandra on June 14, 2020. Initially, a probe by the Mumbai Police deemed his death as a “suicide” based on post-mortem reports. A huge public outcry resulted in the case being transferred to the CBI. High-profile actors, directors, and producers’ statements were
recorded. Professional rivalry and use of drugs also have been under investigation as has money laundering. All this has not shaken the conviction of millions of Sushant’s fans worldwide that the immensely talented, intelligent, and humane actor was indeed killed. Over the past year, several causes close to his heart were taken up—tree
planting, education for the poor, distribution of essentials to the poor & needy, help to hundreds during the pandemic—by SSRians led by a close family friend, Nilotpal Mrinal.
In a one-on-one at the event organized this morning, Nilotpal Mrinal said, “Sushant was always involved in helping the poor, whether it was Nagaland Floods, Kerala Floods Empowerment of Women, he worked silently without making too much of a fuss. We will continue his legacy working for all that he stood for “. “To mark his first death anniversary today, we have distributed sewing machines and wheelchairs to several needy people. A devoted website www.ImmortalSushant.com was also launched yesterday. Apart from clips from his films & interviews, the site also provides a treasure trove of information about every aspect of his life .” “Speaking for all SSRians, although some reports are not very clear I can assure
you we have great faith and trust our agencies will do a fair job…after all this is not just about Sushant now but about the common man’s trust and expectations!” One thing is clear, the campaign for justice for Sushant is here to stay—giving up is not in the Syrian lexicon —they have immense faith in the agencies and are
hopeful of a fair and conclusive report. Above all, it is the family of Sushant who has stoically supported each other and the campaign. That can’t go in vain!
