Actor Aamir Khan recently revealed that he struggled with insecurities about his height during the early days of his career. The actor, known for his meticulous approach to his craft, shared his feelings in a candid conversation with Nana Patekar. The discussion was part of the promotions for Patekar’s upcoming film, Vanvaas.

Standing at 5 feet, 5 inches, Aamir is shorter than the average Bollywood leading man, which caused him concern when he started his journey in the late 1980s. Speaking on Zee Music Company’s YouTube channel, Patekar asked Aamir if he had ever experienced an inferiority complex due to his height. The actor admitted, “Yes, I did. I used to feel that what if people don’t accept me because of my height. This was my fear. But later, I realised that all of this does not matter at all. At that time, some kind of insecurity creeps in.”

This isn’t the first time Aamir has spoken about his height-related insecurities. During the promotions of his 2012 film Talaash, he shared how people used to call him “tingu,” a colloquial term for someone short. Despite such comments, Aamir said he eventually grew to focus on what truly matters—his craft.

“As I progressed in my career, I realised that appearance doesn’t matter when it comes to connecting with the audience,” Aamir explained. “The things that stress us out in the beginning, we later realise, don’t matter at all. What is important is how honestly you are working and how your work can enchant people. After that, everything else is unimportant.”

Aamir’s Upcoming Projects

The actor, last seen in the 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha, is gearing up for his next release, Sitaare Zameen Par. The film, a sequel to his critically acclaimed 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par, marks Aamir’s return to the big screen after the disappointing box office performance of Laal Singh Chaddha. Despite being an official remake of the Oscar-winning Forrest Gump, the film failed to resonate with audiences.

With Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir aims to recapture the magic of his earlier work, focusing once again on a meaningful narrative. Fans eagerly await the film, which promises to highlight the actor’s commitment to storytelling over surface-level appeal.
