Aamir Khan Seeks Self-Improvement After Divorce, Asks Ex-Wife Kiran Rao For Feedback
In a recent interview, Aamir Khan, one of India’s most renowned actors, opened up about his life and approach to self-improvement. Khan, who divorced his wife Kiran Rao in 2021, revealed that he sought feedback from his ex-wife on areas where he could improve as a husband.
This introspection and willingness to learn from past experiences highlights Khan’s commitment to personal growth.
The Beginning Of A Beautiful Journey
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao first crossed paths on the sets of Ashutosh Gowariker’s film Lagaan in 2001. Aamir was the principal actor, and Kiran was one of the assistant directors. At that time, they were not even great friends. After Aamir’s divorce from his first wife, Reena Dutta, in 2002, he reconnected with Kiran. Kiran called him after his divorce, and they had a pleasant conversation.
After speaking with her, Aamir became aware of his happiness. Soon after, Aamir Khan and Kiran started dating, and after a few months, they moved in together. Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan tied the knot on December 28, 2005. Their son Azad was born through a surrogate in 2011.
Shortcomings As A Husband
‘Laapataa Ladies’ director Kiran Rao and actor Aamir Khan attended the Ideas of India Summit presented by ABP Network. As they discussed their friendship, Aamir brought up a discussion following their divorce. He said,
“Ek mazedaar cheez hai. Hum log ka divorce abhi hua hai aap log ko pata hi hoga. Ek din shaam ko main baitha hua tha, main bola Kiran, kya lagta hai as a husband mujh mein kya-kya kami thi? What can I improve abhi aage chal raha hu life mein? She said, ‘Haan likho,’ Bakayda mujhe points like gaye. ‘Aap bahut baat karte hain, aap kisiko baat nahi karne dete, apne hi point pe ghuse rehte hain.’ Kuch 15-20 points maine likhe hue hain.”
(Here’s something fascinating. I recently finalized our divorce. One evening, I sat down and asked Kiran, “What do you think are my shortcomings as a husband?” What can I do to improve as I go in life? “Yes, write,” she said, having me scribble down notes. “You talk a lot, you don’t let anyone else speak, you stick to your point,” she told me. I’ve written roughly 15-20 points.)
