Aamir Khan’s Clip On Bollywood ‘Using Violence And S*x’ To Promote Films Goes Viral After Release Of ‘Animal’

Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal made its debut this Friday, on December 1st. The film is dripping with excessive violence and misogynist themes. Not at all on an unrelatable note, a clip of Aamir’s Khan’s old interview has gone viral in which he is criticizing Bollywood directors for using violence and sex to promote their films.

The short clip of Aamir’s interview was shared on Reddit’s popular sub BollyBlindsNGossip. In it, the young Aamir sets up a backdrop before dropping his concern on the overuse of violence and sex in Hindi films.

“There are few emotions jo bahut easy hote hain audience mein provoke karne ke liye. These emotions are…violence is one of them and sex is another. These are two emotions which are most easy to provoke in a human being. Toh who directors jo creatively itne…umm…if they are not so talented in, you know, creating a story in showing emotions and creating situations, they depend heavily on violence and sex to make their films work. Wo sochte hain ki agar hum bahut zyada violence daalein, bahut zyada sex daalein film mein to ussey hamari film kaamyaab hogi. Mere hisaab se ye bahut hi galat thinking hai.”

Aamir goes on to explain the negative impact of such films

Continuing in the video, Aamir is looking very calm and composed in his boy-next-door avatar.

“Ho sakta hai kayi dafa wo kamyaab ho jayein  ye karne se lekin it harms society very much. And I think that’s a very wrong thing to. And I think we are morally responsible jo log cinema mein hain they’re definitely if not to a large extent, to a certain extent responsible…umm…ke jo audience hamari filmein dekh rahi hai, jo youngsters hamari filmein dekh rahe hain, unke dimaag per definitely asar padta hai. Toh hamein ye baat dhyaan mein rakhni chahiye jab hum film bana rahe hain ki hum aisi koi cheez na dikhayein jisse bura asar ho generation pe.”

Throughout the clip, the Dangal star has maintained a balanced peaceful voice while sharing his views. “Main ye nahin kehta ki ‘there should be no violence in films’. It depends on subject. Agar kahaani mein agar aap ek subject aisa bana rahe hain jisme aapko usme violence bhi dikhana hai kahaani ke liye toh definitely you should show it but there are ways and ways of showing it.”

Aamir’s interview clip prompted the social media users to drop their comments:

“Animal the film is yet another one that can prove Hindi cinema needs better writers and not just ‘stars’ and deep pockets to make us watch more Hindi films.”

“Ranbir should really try and model himself on Aamir.”

“He is talking about Delhi Belly.”

Animal is considered to be one of the most polarizing films of recent years. It has bagged critical responses too, citing its overdose of violence, toxic masculinity, objectification of women, and unstable protagonist.
