Abhay Deol Reveals Anurag Kashyap Did Not Direct Him At All In Dev D, ‘I Wasn’t Even Asking…’

Bollywood actor Abhay Deol has given terrific performances in many films. One of his most memorable roles on screen is that in Anurag Kashyap’s Dev D. Though the movie was acclaimed by critics and audiences, Deol does not have anything good to recall about his shooting days from Dev D. He had a major fallout with Kashyap while filming the cult classic and seems like the two cannot see eye-to-eye even today.

The war of words between Abhay and Anurag is making headlines these days as both the celebs are out on promotions of their upcoming projects. While Abhay is spreading a word for his Netflix series Trial By Fire, Anurag is promoting Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat.

Abhay Deol says Anurag Kashyap ‘did not direct him at all’

Recently, Abhay Deol appeared at the acting school of veteran star Anupam Kher. During the interaction, he was asked if he had ever worked with filmmakers who did not have a way with actors. To this, Abhay replied with the name of Anurag Kashyap. He said that Anurag did not direct him at all when he was working on 2009 film Dev D and let him be. The actor stated, “It wasn’t even like I was asking him. He allowing me to do things my way, and not telling anything as a director only encouraged me to think what I’m doing must be right.”

Abhay Deol called Anurag Kashyap ‘toxic’

Before this, Anurag claimed that Abhay had demanded ‘staying in a five-star hotel’ while the entire team of Dev D stayed in Paharganj’ as the movie had a ‘very tight budget’. Abhay reacted to it and called the Gangs Of Wasseypur director a ‘liar’. The actor had quoted, “He (Anurag Kashyap) was a good lesson for me. I just avoided him, because I don’t need toxic people in my life. Life is too short, and there is so much more to explore. But he (Anurag) is definitely a liar and a toxic person. And I would warn people about him.”

Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap also revealed that he tried to reach Abhay Deol for apology but couldn’t meet him.
