Famous singer of Bollywood Abhijeet Bhattacharya who gave several hit songs throughout his career often makes headlines due to his statements. Now once again he seems to be in trouble due to one of his statements. Let us tell you that a Pune based lawyer has sent a legal notice to the singer for his derogatory remarks. This notice is regarding Bhattacharya’s controversial statement in which he described Mahatma Gandhi as the ‘Father of the Nation of Pakistan’.

Let us tell you that the singer made this comment during a podcast interview that he attended recently. Lawyer Asim Sarode who filed a complaint against him, has demanded a written apology from Abhijeet Bhattacharya. If he does not do so, he has threatened the singer with legal action too. The lawyer says that this statement is an insult to Gandhi’s legacy and misrepresents historical facts.

During the same podcast, Abhijeet Bhattacharya compared musician RD Burman to Gandhiji and said, “Just as Mahatma Gandhi was the father of the nation, RD Burman was the father of the nation in the world of music.” He further said, “Mahatma Gandhi was the father of the nation for Pakistan, not for India.” Let us tell you that this legal notice has been sent on behalf of Manish Deshpande and other law students.

In the petition filed by the lawyer, the singer has been accused of crossing the line in his statement. Explaining the role of Gandhiji, Asim Sarode said, “Gandhiji made tireless efforts for Hindu-Muslim unity and opposed the partition, saying that ‘Partition will have to be accepted only over my dead body.’ The lawyer also underlined Gandhi’s global identity and said that more than 150 countries have issued postage stamps in tribute to Gandhi.
