Actress Rakul Preet Singh From Doctor G Says She “Felt Shy” Visiting A Male Gynaecologist

Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh has made a firm standing in the industry. She is considered for strong roles by many filmmakers. Singh is coming up next with two big films- Thank God with Sidharth Malhotra and Doctor G with Ayushmann Khurrana. While the former is a hearty comedy, the latter delves into struggles of male gynecologists that needs to be talked about. As she gears up for the release of Doctor G, the actress revealed that even she felt shy going to a male gynecologists during her teenage years.

In an interview with a leading daily, the De De Pyaar De actress talked about the subject of Doctor G. She shared how she felt uncomfortable with a male gynaecologist examining her body when she was young and how they are trying to change things with their film. “There was a time when I had to go to a male gynaecologist and I felt very shy. I thought how am I going to let this person examine me? You’re a 13-14-year-old, and I did feel shy,” stated Singh.

“But now when I look back and obviously when I grew older, I realised that’s not how you look at it. And that’s the conversation even in the trailer. We speak about the male touch and the doctor’s touch. As per statistics, some of the top gynaecologists in the country are male,” she explained.

“So that’s what we’re trying to say – a doctor is a doctor and that’s how it needs to be viewed. The taboo around it needs to be broken because sexual health is a very important part of one’s being. Unfortunately, we don’t talk about it as much. But it is a part of your body, like a heart or a brain,” added the 32-year-old actress.

Rakul Preet Singh is one of the most sought after actresses of Bollywood at present. Besides Thank God and Doctor G, she is also a part of Ayalaan, Chhatriwali and Indian 2.
