Nora Fatehi recently opened up about her experience in Bollywood and the evolving standards for women in the industry during a candid conversation at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. Speaking with former film journalist Rajeev Masand, the actor discussed the challenges of fitting in and the uniformity of looks among female actors in the industry.

On the topic of Bollywood aesthetics, Nora acknowledged that there is a growing similarity in the appearance of female stars. “My aesthetic is the same as most of the girls in our industry right now. We have started looking the same. I don’t know how that happened,” she shared. She further explained that this trend has made her more conscious about her personal style, and she actively resists being dressed the same as other young actresses. “Today when I do have the power to talk, I do tell my stylists, ‘This is too much.’ The way they dress Ananya (Panday), Sara (Ali Khan), or Janhvi (Kapoor), they cannot dress me the same way,” Nora said, emphasizing the differences in body types.

Nora admitted that her body type doesn’t align with the typical Bollywood image, which often leads to clashes with stylists and directors. She pointed out that while the same outfits may work for other actresses, they don’t suit her, and she often has to push back. “When I wear it, it doesn’t look the same,” she explained, though she noted that stylists and directors understand her perspective once she explains her concerns.

Work-Front

Nora was last seen in a supporting role in Kunal Kemmu’s comedy “Madgaon Express”. She is also set to make her Telugu debut in “Matka”, which stars Varun Tej and Meenakshi Chaudhary, and is slated for a November 14 release. Additionally, she has a project titled “Dancing Dad” in the pipeline, continuing to expand her diverse career in the Indian film industry.
