In Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, Aditi Rao Hydari plays Bibbojaan. She remembers her fiancé, actor Siddharth, getting emotional and overwhelmed when he watched the show.

Aditi Rao Hydari is currently enjoying the success of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Despite the controversial premiere of the show, critics and fans have praised her portrayal of Bibbojaan.

The actor recently talked about how much her fiancé, Siddharth, loved her performance in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film. Siddharth was brought to tears by the highly acclaimed series, demonstrating the profundity and impact of Aditi’s portrayal of Bibbojaan.

Siddharth adored Heeramandi

Aditi Rao Hydari disclosed to her that Siddharth adored Heeramandi. He mentioned wanting to see director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in person as they talked about their mutual love of films. “He loved Heeramandi. He was so overwhelmed that he couldn’t speak. He was crying, and his eyes were swollen. He told me he wanted to meet Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir as soon as he could,” Aditi told Puja Talwar during an interview.

He joked, “Now there will be two freedom fighters in the family, Karan Singhania and Bibbo Jaan,” drawing comparisons between Aditi’s character Bibbojaan and his portrayal of Karan Singhania in Rang De Basanti. In the show, Bibbo Jaan, a coveted tawaif of Shahi Mahal, gives her life in the fight for independence.

With a shared background in the film industry, both Aditi and Siddharth have strong connections to renowned director Mani Ratnam. Aditi revealed that Siddharth, after completing his MBA, began his career as an assistant director under Ratnam before being cast in S. Shankar’s Boys.

Embrace the inner child

Reflecting on their shared enthusiasm and love for their craft, Aditi highlighted the importance of embracing the inner child within both of them. “Enjoy what we do; love what we do. It is our fuel. But there is a 5-year-old in both of us, so there is always excitement. We don’t weigh heavily on each other or ourselves. We try to keep it light. He sometimes gets into the method, and I live to surrender, but it’s two sides of the same coin.”

She further added, “We don’t always discuss work, but we do talk about things that make us move or feel. I am quite instinctive, so he can verbalise what I feel.”

As Aditi and Siddharth continue to support each other’s careers, fans are eagerly awaiting updates on their marriage. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram back in March.
