Esha Verma, stepdaughter of renowned actor Rupali Ganguly, has reportedly taken action following a ₹50 crore defamation notice from Ganguly. On Monday, Esha posted a video on Instagram alleging various issues with her father, Ashwin Verma, and his wife, Rupali Ganguly. Just hours later, she received the legal notice.

As of Tuesday morning, Hindustan Times found that Esha had deleted the video in question. Additionally, she made her Instagram account private. At the time of writing, her Instagram profile indicated 139 posts, with a following of 15.8K and 3,554 accounts she follows.

In her now-deleted video, Esha made several emotional accusations, claiming, “I stood up against my bullies. My true bullies in my life. Not only did they hurt someone I truly love—my mother—they chose to hurt me. They chose not to acknowledge me, abandon me, and criticize my insecurities. They never apologized publicly or personally. What hurt me the most was my father’s response, how he chose to mock mental health.”

She further expressed that her “wounds” reopened whenever she encountered news of her father and stepmother in the media. “I’ve avoided it, but sometimes it catches your attention, and then it hurts again and again, especially when you build your character and career off lies and hurting someone else,” she said.

In an additional statement about Ashwin and Rupali’s son, Rudransh, Esha expressed regret, saying, “I apologize truly if it hurt someone else, especially my little brother. I didn’t intend for that to happen, and I have so much love for you. I hope Papa is being the dad for you that he couldn’t be for me and our sister.”

Rupali’s Legal Move Explained

On Monday, Rupali’s lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, provided a statement to Hindustan Times regarding the defamation notice. “We have issued a defamation notice to her stepdaughter in response to her false and damaging statements,” Khan explained. “Rupali stands firmly against defamatory tactics for publicity and has taken this legal step to protect her reputation from unfounded claims. These baseless allegations were clearly intended to harm Rupali Ganguly’s reputation and capitalize on her public standing.”

Khan added that the accusations have not only caused Ganguly emotional distress but have also affected her personal and professional integrity.

Esha, 26, currently resides in New Jersey. Her mother, Sapna, married Ashwin Verma in 1997, with the couple separating in 2008. Ashwin, who has two daughters from previous relationships, married Rupali in 2013, and the couple has one son together.
