Aishwarya Rai Sues To Stop Illegal Use Of Her Image For AI-Generated Pornographic Content

Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai has urged the Delhi High Court to issue a restraining order against online platforms for the illegal use of her name and images to create AI-generated pornographic content. The court hinted that it would pass an ad-interim order to protect her personality and publicity rights and will issue further directions to take down the infringing content.

The lawsuit, filed by Aishwarya and her lawyers, alleges the misappropriation of her name, image, voice, and likeness for commercial gain without her consent. Senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, who represented the actress in court, stated that “unreal intimate photographs” were being circulated online. “Her name and image are being used to satisfy someone’s sexual desires. This is very unfortunate,” he said. The plea claims that unidentified parties are using artificial intelligence and deepfake technology to create “distasteful videos and images” that are “sexually explicit.”

The suit names several defendants, including websites like aishwaryaworld.com and apkpure.com, as well as platforms like Etsy, YouTube, Google, and even the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Aishwarya is fighting to protect her right to publicity, which gives individuals the right to control and profit from their name, image, and likeness. The plea calls the unauthorized use of her likeness in such an “unwholesome and unsavoury” manner particularly egregious. Other prominent actors, including Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, and Amitabh Bachchan, have also approached the court in the past to protect their personality rights. The court has posted the matter for further proceedings on January 15, 2026.
