A man was detained in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district as a suspect in the stabbing case of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained Akash Kanojia, a 31-year-old driver, from the Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus boarded on Kolkata Shalimar Gyaneshwari Express at Durg station on January 18. He was arrested by the police following a tip-off from the Mumbai police. Now the man said his life has been completely disrupted after the police action, he has no job and his family is facing humiliation because of his arrest.

Let us tell you that Mumbai police arrested Bangladeshi national Shariful Islam Shahzad Mohammed Rohilla Amin Fakir alias Vijay Das from a neighboring police station, following which Akash Kanojia was released by the Durg RPF. Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times by an unidentified man during an attempt to rob his 12th-floor house at Satguru Sharan in Mumbai’s Bandra area. Saif underwent surgery and was later discharged by Lilavati hospital.

Let us tell you that during a conversation with one of the media houses, Aakash Kanojia said, “My family was shocked and in tears when the media started showing my pictures and claimed that I was the prime suspect in the case. One mistake by the Mumbai police ruined my life. They failed to notice that I had a moustache and the man seen in the CCTV footage in the actor’s building did not have a moustache.”

He claimed, “After the incident, I got a call from the police and they asked me where I was. When I told them that I was at home, the call was disconnected. I was on my way to meet my would-be bride when I was detained in Durg and then taken to Raipur. The Mumbai police team that reached there also thrashed me.”
