Actor Akshay Kumar has reacted to reports of charging ₹50 to ₹100 crores for each film. Speaking at the trailer launch event of his up-and-coming film Selfiee in Mumbai on Sunday, he gave an indirect answer to reporters who asked him about the fee he usually charges for each film.
Akshay’s next film Selfiee stars Emran Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Diana Penty in the main roles. It is an action-comedy film. Akshay is a ‘superstar’ and Emran Hashmi is a police officer, his ‘biggest fan.’
At the trailer launch event, Akshay Kumar spoke about the reports of charging ₹50 to ₹100 crores for each film. He said that his reaction is always good. Akshay asked the reporter how was his reaction. He said, “Tune bataya tha ki teri sherwani mein pareshani hui. Tujhe kaisa laga tha?”
The reporter said that he feels good. Akshay said that he should feel good because these are positive talks. He hopes it happens with him( the reporter) always. Akshay Kumar gave a quirky reply.
He opened up about the high cost of movie tickets in India. He said that there are so many other things that need to be done. It is not only by the actors but also by the producers as well as theaters. Akshay wants to bring down his prices by 30-40%.
He added that theaters need to understand that it’s recession time also. The viewers has a limited amount of money to spend on entertainment. Everything has to change. Akshay said that everyone has to work on the cost of him, the cost of making the film. Everything needs to be addressed.
