Actor Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday in connection with a tragic stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, which resulted in the death of one woman and left her son critically injured. The incident took place when a large crowd of fans gathered at the theatre near RTC Crossroads to catch a glimpse of the popular actor.
According to police officials, the chaos erupted around 9:30 pm when Allu Arjun made an unexpected visit to the theatre, accompanied by music director Devi Sri Prasad. The actor, who was there to gauge audience reactions to their upcoming project, caused a surge of fans eager to see him. This overwhelming rush led to a stampede-like situation, with the situation quickly escalating out of control.
An officer involved in the investigation stated, “The surprise visit by Allu Arjun caused a rush of fans trying to get a glimpse of the actor, which led to a stampede-like situation.” The situation worsened when the theatre management failed to arrange a separate exit for the actor and his entourage, adding to the panic and confusion.
The victim, identified as Revathi, lost her life in the stampede, while her son, Sri Teja, suffered from asphyxiation. Sri Teja is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, with his condition described as critical.
In the aftermath of the incident, a case has been filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case was registered at the Chikkadpally police station based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s family.
The incident has raised concerns about crowd management and safety measures at public events, especially when large crowds are involved. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stampede and the roles played by the actor, his security personnel, and the theatre management.
