Pushpa: The Rise, starring Allu Arjun, was a smash hit, and everything from his dialogue to the songs to Pushpa’s recognizable walk had become a hit on the internet. The actor, 40, has finally disclosed the secret behind his viral internet-catching distinctive walk.
He disclosed that it was a directive from his director Sukumar in a conversation with India Today. The actor said, “Sukumar Garu said, I don’t know what you do, but everybody has to walk like you.” At that time, he thought that sloping shoulders would be “easily imitable,” therefore he came up with the notion.
The internet was flooded with videos of Allu Arjun’s walking gait and his hook step from the song Srivalli. Along with his gait, Pushpa is known for making the hand motions “Main jhukega nahi sala” and “Pushpa flower nahi, fire hai,” which continue to be imitated today.
He also opened up about working in Hindi films, he said, “Acting in Hindi is a little out of my comfort zone for now, but once there is a requirement, I’ll go all-out,” he said. It’s interesting to note that Allu Arjun also owns a residence in Mumbai.
Before Pushpa broke box office records, Allu Arjun was well-liked by Hindi audiences. They were already addicted to the dubs of Allu Arjun’s movies that were broadcast on stations like Star Gold and Sony MAX.
The blockbuster film earned over Rs 365 crore at the box office worldwide, with its Hindi adaptation bringing in nearly Rs 110 crore. Talking about the pan-India success of his film, Allu added, “The idea wasn’t to impress the whole country but it was a great by-product. If your local audience is impressed, then automatically the energy transfers and the aura spreads.”
Pushpa: The Rule, the sequel to the Pushpa film, will once again star Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, and Anasuya Bharadwaj. Production is anticipated to start in August.
