Six members of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU-JAC) have been booked for allegedly vandalising actor Allu Arjun’s residence in Jubilee Hills. The incident occurred on Sunday around 4:45 pm amid ongoing tensions related to the Sandhya Theatre tragedy.
According to the police, the protestors gathered outside the Pushpa actor’s home, chanting slogans and holding placards. One of them reportedly climbed the compound wall and threw tomatoes, while others allegedly manhandled security personnel and damaged flower pots along the ramp.
Visuals from the scene showed shattered glass, broken pots, and damaged plants. “Some persons holding placards rushed to Allu Arjun’s residence and began sloganeering. One of them mounted the wall and started throwing tomatoes. When security staff intervened, an altercation ensued, resulting in minor property damage,” said the DCP.
Jubilee Hills Police arrested six individuals at the scene, who identified themselves as members of OU-JAC. However, no formal complaint has been filed by Allu Arjun or his family.
Sandhya Theatre Tragedy Sparks Row
The protest follows heated exchanges between the actor and the Telangana government over the Sandhya Theatre tragedy on December 4, during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule. A massive crowd gathered at RTC X Road to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun, resulting in a stampede that killed a woman named Revathi and injured her child.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, addressing the Assembly, stated that the police had denied permission for the event due to safety concerns. “Despite warnings, the actor attended the premiere, conducted a roadshow, and climbed onto his car roof, worsening the situation,” he said.
Police officials reportedly urged Allu Arjun to leave the venue to control the crowd. The DCP eventually intervened, threatening arrest if he did not comply. The actor was later arrested and released on bail after furnishing a ₹50,000 bond.
Actor Responds
Allu Arjun expressed condolences to the victims, calling the incident deeply distressing. “I’ve been monitoring the injured child’s recovery. There’s been misinformation about my involvement. I apologise but clarify I had no direct role in the tragedy,” he said.
The actor urged fans to maintain decorum and avoid abusive behaviour. Despite the controversy, Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar, continues to break box office records.
