‘Almost Killed Me’: Pooja Bhatt Reveals Impact Of ‘Dirty’ Habit In Her Life

Pooja Bhatt is one of the finest actresses of her generation in Bollywood. She has been a part of several films including “Sadak,” “Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin,” “Junoon,” “Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi,” “Border,” and “Zakhm.”

Her marriage did not last long, and she fell into alcohol addiction. However, she gave her career a second chance and made a comeback in 2020 with the sequel to her film “Sadak,” titled “Sadak 2.”

Pooja Bhatt revealed during Bigg Boss OTT 2 that she had an alcohol addiction. Pooja said, “I had a drinking problem, so I acknowledged my addiction and decided to quit.”

Pooja Bhatt further explained that society gives men a license to openly discuss their addictions and recovery from alcohol. However, women do not drink openly, so they do not recover openly either.

She used to drink openly, so when she thought about quitting alcohol, she realized why she should recover in privacy. Being a public drinker, she realized that she didn’t want to recover in private.

While discussing her alcohol addiction, Pooja Bhatt also mentioned that she had reached the brink of death due to her bad habit. However, she managed to control her habit in time.

Pooja Bhatt said, “People called me an alcoholic, but then I said I am a recovering alcoholic.” She revealed that she quit drinking at the age of 44.

Pooja also disclosed that she quit alcohol because of her father. The actress shared that her father told her, “If you love me, then love yourself because I live inside you.” This statement from her father inspired Pooja to quit alcohol.

Pooja started her acting career in Bollywood at the age of 17 in 1989 with her father Mahesh Bhatt’s directorial film “Daddy.” Pooja appeared in a glamorous avatar in this film. For this film, she was awarded the Filmfare New Face of the Year Award.

Throughout her career, Pooja has worked in several blockbuster films like “Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin,” “Angaaray,” “Chaahat,” “Gunehgar,” “Tadipaar,” “Sadak,” and “Zakhm.”

In 2004, Pooja ventured into direction with the film “Paap.” In 1996, she launched the Pooja Bhatt Production Company and produced the film “Tamanna” under its banner.
