Television actor Aly Goni has spoken out against the intense backlash he has received over a viral video that shows him not chanting during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. In an interview with Filmygyan, Aly revealed that he has been receiving death threats and issued a stern warning to those targeting his family and girlfriend, Jasmin Bhasin.

Aly stated that his emails and comments have been “flooded” with death threats and that people are calling for an FIR to be filed against him. He defended his actions, stating, “I’m just saying something very normal: that I am a Muslim, so action was taken against me, but there are many Hindus who don’t bring Ganpati—does that mean they aren’t Hindu?” He clarified that it was his first time at the celebration and that he simply got lost in his thoughts. He also added that his religion does not permit him to pray in that manner.

Aly also had a direct message for the trolls. “Those who are giving threats or abusing Jasmin, if any of them have the courage, let them come in front of me and say it. I swear on God, I will cut their neck and hold it in my hand. If anyone says anything about my mother, sister, or Jasmine, I will not tolerate it.”

The controversy began after a video surfaced showing Aly at his friend Krushna Abhishek’s home for Ganpati Puja. In the clip, Aly can be seen standing quietly while Jasmin and others were chanting. Jasmin was seen encouraging him to join in, but he did not participate.

On the work front, Aly was most recently seen on the reality cooking show Laughter Chefs Season 2, where he and his partner, Reem Shaikh, finished as runners-up.
