In a recent interview, Anil Kapoor, who recently completed his 40 years in Bollywood, mentioned his ‘Landmark’ win in a case against AI for unauthorised use of his persona.

Talking to CNN, Anil also praised Amitabh Bachchan for being the first Bollywood celebrity to safeguard his identity.

Anil Kapoor filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court for the protection of his personality rights, which included his name, image, voice, and any other attributes of his likeness. It even included the ‘jhakaas’ catchphrase. He said, “You have to protect your bodywork, the kind of person you are, your family, and yourself.”

High Court Justice Prathiba M. Singh issued an order on September 20, 2023, acknowledging the actor’s personality rights and restraining others from “misusing” his persona without permission. The order applies to the actor’s rights globally, across media formats.

Amitabh took the lead.

Talking about Amitabh Bachchan, he praised him for his initial step against the use of his likeness by AI. He quoted, “I didn’t take the lead. I think it was Amitabh Bachchan who took the lead in this. I took a step further.”.

Amitabh Bachchan has always been critical of artificial intelligence (AI) in showbiz, even mentioning that he fears being replaced by AI. Big B was furious over the deep-fake video of Rashimka Mandanna. He expressed strong outrage and demanded stern action against those responsible for the fake video.
