Uorfi Javed Speaks in Support of Samay Raina

Amid the backlash, Uorfi Javed has defended her friend Samay Raina. Addressing the controversy on her Instagram Stories, she acknowledged that while the comments made on the panel were in poor taste, they were not severe enough to warrant jail time.

“You may dislike certain people and their words, but calling for their imprisonment? That’s extreme. Samay is a friend, and I stand by him. While what was said on the panel was distasteful, I don’t think it deserves such harsh punishment,” she wrote.

Uorfi previously appeared as a guest on India’s Got Latent but walked out after contestants made inappropriate remarks about her. At the time, she clarified that Samay had supported her, emphasizing that she did not hold him responsible. “I don’t blame @maisamayhoon! He’s a friend. My issue was with the contestants. The entire team consoled me, and Samay has been nothing but kind since then,” she stated. Samay also featured on Uorfi’s show, “Follow Kar Lo Yaar”, which was released last year.

The Controversy Surrounding India’s Got Latent

The backlash erupted after Ranveer Allahbadia posed a controversial question to a contestant on the show: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”* The clip went viral, sparking outrage. Following the criticism, Ranveer apologized and requested the removal of the offensive parts from the episode.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) issued a statement demanding strict action against Ranveer and Samay, calling for an immediate ban on the show. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis remarked that freedom of expression has its limits, while Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi announced her intent to bring up the matter in Parliament.
