Amitabh Bachchan Once Went To A Strip Club In Bangkok’s Red-Light District, Reveals Director Apoorva Lakhia

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s unusual sleep patterns have often left his fans concerned, especially when he posts on his blog late at night or early in the morning. Now, filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia has shed light on this, revealing that the veteran actor is an insomniac who remains energetic even after long working hours.

Lakhia, who directed Bachchan in Ek Ajnabee (2005), shared anecdotes about the actor’s tireless enthusiasm. According to him, despite gruelling shoots, Bachchan would insist on making post-work plans. Recalling their time in Bangkok during the film’s production, Lakhia revealed that the superstar expressed interest in experiencing the city’s nightlife. This led them to visit a club named Exotic P**y* in the red-light district of Patpong.

Speaking to Friday Talkies, Lakhia recounted how Bachchan asked for a tour of Bangkok. “I told him, ‘Sir, this is Patpong, there are live shows here. If I take you, there will be riots.’ But he was adamant, so we went,” he said. Accompanied by actors Arjun Rampal, Vikram Chatwal, Perizaad Zorabian, and producer Bunty Walia, the group ventured into Patpong.

Lakhia described the megastar’s casual demeanour, noting that Bachchan was dressed in a button-down shirt and a traditional Thai dhoti-like outfit. “He was walking through Patpong as if he was in Juhu,” Lakhia said, adding that once inside the club, the presence of the Bollywood icon created a frenzy among Indian tourists. After watching the live performances, Bachchan was reportedly impressed and summed up his experience with a single phrase: “Mind-blowing.”

The filmmaker further shared that the group returned around 2:30-3:00 AM, yet Bachchan was back on set by 5:30 AM, ready for another full day of shooting. “He never seemed to get tired,” Lakhia remarked.

Apart from his nocturnal adventures, Bachchan also ensured his crew enjoyed their time. Lakhia recalled how the superstar would arrange late-night movie screenings. “He would rent a cinema, call Yash Chopra, and request reels of Bunty Aur Babli. The entire unit would watch it,” he said. The next day, Bachchan would arrange another screening, turning it into a regular affair. “I used to sleep on the recliners, but this happened every night,” Lakhia added.

The revelation highlights Bachchan’s remarkable stamina and passion, making him one of the most dedicated stars in the industry.
