Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are in the last leg of the promotional spree for their upcoming film Brahmastra. As the movie is gearing up for a release this weekend, the couple along with their director Ayan Mukherjee jetted off to Madhya Pradesh hoping to seek blessings at the Mahakaleshwar Temple. But seems like God had some other plans for the trio.

As per the sources, Ranbir and Alia were prevented from entering the holy temple of Ujjain by activists of right-wing groups- Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal due to their alleged remarks over beef-eating and watching Brahmastra movie.

The police officials have confirmed the incident. They revealed that as soon as the the right-wing workers got to know of Ranbir and Alia’s visit to Mahakal for darshan, they gathered at the main gate and the conch gate meant for VVIPs with black flags in their hands. They were chanting ‘Jai Shriram’ slogans while protesting against the duo outside the premises of the temple. The couple had to resort to cane-charge to disperse the protesters. But despite that, protesters did not allow them to enter the temple.

Bajrang Dal leader Ankit Choube talked to reporters and told them their reason of anger with the actors. “We will not allow them to worship at the holy Mahakaleshwar temple as a few days back Ranbir had said that he likes to eat mutton, chicken and beef in non-veg food. Even Alia had said that those who want to see her film Brahmastra should watch while others who are not keen shouldn’t.”

While Police have taken action against the ones who were creating ruckus under section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code, MP Minister Narottam Mishra has something else to say on the situation. He said that nobody stopped Ranbir and Alia from the darshan at Ujjain’s Mahakal temple. They decided to not go there due to protests. “I have talked with the administration. They informed me that arrangement was made for their visit. But they decided to not proceed. Protest, be it on any issue, is a different subject. They were not stopped from darshan. Those who accompanied them went inside the temple,” Mishra stated. He further asked all the actors to not use words which hurt the sentiments of people.

Let us tell you that Ranbir and Alia’s film Brahmastra is one of the highly anticipated films of the year. It also stars Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna and Amitabh Bachchan.
