In an interview with News18 Showsha’s The Firstpost Show, the actor and co-star Saiyami Kher discussed their promotion of their first movie, Mirzya. The moderator invited the two to discuss their “bad audition” experiences during the talk. Harsh Varrdhan revealed that he was rejected for the role of ‘Pi’, the lead character in the Oscar-winning film Life of Pi, because of his appearance.
“I had a good audition for Life of Pi, but didn’t get the role because they wrote back saying he’s too good-looking to play Pi because Pi is a character from Pondi (Pondicherry) from the south. I don’t look like, and more like, I look more urban, you know, so that’s kind of what they said.”
Furthermore, Harsh Varrdhan stated that, while he did not get the role, it led to another audition for an HBO pilot titled Criminal Justice. He remembered how well his audition had gone and how, while he was in Los Angeles, he had received preparation for it. Sadly, the show was pushed back, Harsh continued, adding that they wanted to meet him.
