One of the most popular shows on TV, Remix aired in 2003. Back then, the show was a rage among the youth. In fact, many of us cannot imagine our childhood without this cult show. Actress Shweta Gulati played the role of Tina Ahuja in the show. She was one of the four lead actors of the show. After 18 years, Shweta Gulati has made a comeback to acting with ALTBalaji’s Crimes and Confessions.
In an interview, the actress got nostalgic about her show, Remix, and stated that it is one of the shows that can’t be made again. After being a part of this iconic show of TV, Remix which has gained cult status, Shweta feels that no shows in the current time could get that cult status that remix has. She said, there can’t be another Remix in today’s time.
Shweta Gulati shared, “I feel that era of cult shows was back then. I don’t know if that is going to come back ever. Because of the kind of exposure that social media and the internet have given, it is highly unlikely. Remix gave that kind of exposure to society. The social issues that we tapped on back then were never heard of. Today everything is out in the open. Things have changed. We have access to the internet, we have so much exposure to life in general. I don’t think that CULT status is going to happen again. We can definitely aim at looking at subjects that have not been presented before to the audience. Subjects which are more real, subjects which are more relatable, subjects that we shy talking about. That’s exactly what my story in Crimes and Confessions is about. My story is something that we shy away from talking about and accepting. We could work towards making subjects which are needed to be spoken about, told, and presented. I think that’s what we can aim at, but cult I don’t think so can happen. Another Remix can never happen.”
Further in the interview, while talking about her show Crimes and Confessions which is currently streaming on ALTBalaji, Shweta revealed that she didn’t have inhibitions to be a part of the show. She said, “My only problem was that I did not want to go back to the glamourous image. It took me 17 years, to break away from that bloody glamorous image and to go back there!”
“I didn’t want to go back into the reverse journey. So that was my only inhibition. I had no inhibitions about playing whatever, I had no inhibitions about being the bold character that Rekha, my character is. I was just worried about my image. I didn’t want to get into the glamourous image back then,” she added.
Well in a time when we get to witness sob stories even in reality shows, we cannot agree more with Shweta’s statement. There was only one Remix and we also really think that it can not be remade with the same elements and touch.
Besides Shweta, Remix starred the popular faces of TV-like Karan Wahi, Priya Wal, Raj Singh Arora, Sourabh Raj Jain, Kunal Kapoor to name a few.
