‘Are Kehna Kya Chahte Ho’, Fame Achyuta Potdar Passed Away At The Age of 91 In Jupiter Hospital In Mumbai

We all remember ‘Are Bhai Kehna Kya Chahte Ho!’ dialogue in Aamir Khan’s ‘3 Idiots’ did by actor Achyuta Potdar. This dialogue made him popular all over the country with the meme, but there is bad news for his fans since he is no more among us. The actor passed away on 18 August 2025 at the age of 91 and took his last breath at Jupiter Hospital in Thane, Mumbai. The Indian film industry has suffered a huge loss with the actor’s departure, as he was a seasoned artist and contributed to many films and TV shows.

According to some of the media reports, Achyuta Potdar had health problems, due to which he was admitted to the hospital. But he died on August 18, and now it is being said that his last rites will also be performed in Thane on August 19. Apart from Hindi, the actor had also made a special identity in the Marathi industry in the last few years. After receiving the news of Achyuta Potdar’s death, there was mourning in the entertainment world.

If we talk about the actor’s work front, then let us tell you that he has worked in films like ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Ardh Satya’, and ‘Yeh Dillagi’. He has also appeared in TV shows like ‘Wagle Ki Duniya’, ‘Majha Hoshil Na’, ‘Mrs. Tendulkar’, and ‘Bharat Ki Khoj’. You will be amazed to know that Achyuta Potdar was not a trained actor; instead, he joined the Indian Army after his graduation.

But before joining the Army, he also worked as a professor in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. Less than a year after his marriage, he joined the army through the emergency department and retired in 1967 with the rank of Captain. Let us tell you that Achyuta Potdar worked as an executive in Indian Oil for 25 years. And then retired in 1992 at the age of 58. While working in Indian Oil, the actor participated in theatre projects, plays and cultural activities, so that he could hone his passion for acting. Then in 1980, he debuted with the film ‘Aakrosh’.
