Opening up on how she survived in Mumbai, Dipika said that she came to the city of dreams as an air hostess with just one small suitcase and an airbag. She stayed in the worst PGs. Dipika shared that following some problem in family, her mother also shifted to Mumbai and she has to rent out a flat for her. At that time, she didn’t have curtains, bed sheets, or a mattress. Dipika recalled buying a mattress for Rs 300-400 out of necessity and hanging her dupattas as curtains.
The actress said that when she was advised not to fly, her classmate Sonali Kulkarni pushed her to pursue acting. She was bad at it initially as she didn’t know anything about acting. It was not her background. But slowly she worked upon herself and bagged ‘Devi’ as her first show. Then she did a small part in ‘Agle Janam More Bitiya Hi Kijiyo’ as a character artist and finally bagged ‘Sasural Simar Ka’. Post that, there was no looking back.
Furthermore, Dipika disclosed that she and husband Shoaib Ibrahim have seen worse days even after doing blockbuster shows and making a place of their own. She stated, “Bahut bura waqt dekha hai around our wedding. Financial ups and downs are there in life and can happen at any moment. But with time, we start doing the right investments and making assets. Such things make you financially strong. Now we are building our dream house but we have not forgotten the days of struggles and hardships. We are always full of gratitude and satisfaction.”
At present, Dipika Kakar is on a break from acting. She is soon going to welcome her first child with Shoaib. The couple tied the knot in February, 2018.
