Manoj Bajpayee’s upcoming movie ‘Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai’ trailer is receiving positive reviewers. But Asaram Bapu’s fans and his charitable trust members were not happy with the trailer. A legal battle has erupted between the filmmakers and Asaram Bapu! Check the whole story below.

Asaram Bapu’s team takes action against Manoj Bajpayee’s film

The trailer for Manoj Bajpayee’s upcoming film was revealed by the makers of Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai a few days ago. The trailer received a positive response from critics. However, Asaram Bapu’s charitable trust and some of his followers were offended by it. In the movie, Manoj plays a defence attorney who takes on a strong Godman who has been charged with raping a little girl in violation of the POCSO Act.

The fact that PC Solanki, the name of the character played by Manoj Bajpayee, is the same as the attorney who argued the case against the Godman and sentenced him to prison. This is what irritated Asaram and his charitable trust about the trailer.

Asaram Bapu’s team are stopping the film from releasing it

According to a recent ETimes story, Asaram Bapu’s  trust  named, Asaramji Ashram Charitable Trust has sent a legal notice to the creators of Manoj Bajpayee’s Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai. Asaram is currently in Jodhpur Jail and serving his life sentence.  According to reports, Asaram’s team is pleading  with the courts on behalf of him to impose prohibitions on the film’s promotion and release.

Asaram’s attorneys said, the movie is extremely unpleasant, defames their client. It has the potential to damage both his reputation and the feelings of his devotees and supporters.

Lawyers Satya Prakash Sharma and Vipul Singhvi sent the legal notice on behalf of  Asaram and the Pushkar-based trusts to film producer Asif Shaikh. The lawyers has filed a defamation suit and will file a petition if not responded within 3 days.

When the publication contacted Practical Productions’ producer Asif Shaikh, he responded, “Yes, we have received the notice”. “And our lawyers will decide the next step.” He continued, “We did a biopic on PC Solanki, and I had purchased the rights from him to produce this movie. Now, if someone claims that the movie is based on them, they are free to believe whatever they want. And we have no power to intervene. After the movie’s release, only the movie will be able to give the whole story.”
