Ayushman Khurana’s Bhadhai Ho Beats Aamir and Big B’s Thugs Of Hindostan In Box Office Collection!

The past year has been perhaps the most progressive one in the film industry. With small budget films being blockbusters and actor’s who aren’t stereotypically handsome by Bollywood standards giving back to back hits. This was a great year for Bollywood film industry. The audience has passed judgement and they don’t want just brainless entertainment anymore! The most recent example is that of Thugs Of Hindostan.

The movie was highly anticipated and had fans going gaga over the trailers and the songs, the movie, unfortunately, didn’t deliver. With a star cast of Bollywood’s superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Amir Khan, Katrina Kaif and a whopping budget of Rs 250 crore, the movie was expected to be a high grosser but even after two weeks, the movie hasn’t been able to cover its budget! The movie was a huge let down for fans and audiences and the decision came quickly over the Diwali weekend!

While Thugs didn’t live up to the hype, the small budget family comedy, Badhai Ho, staring Ayushman Khurana and Sanya Malhotra was a huge hit amoung the audience. From it’s charecters and dialoges to the flawless screenplay, the audience adored this tale of an elderly couple getting pregnant much to the despair of their kids and family! The movie recived critical acclaim as well as got a huge thumbs up from the audience.

And now, Badhaai Ho has crossed Rs 200 Crores mark on the box office after a little more than 4 weeks and has also surpassed Thugs of Hindostan. You heard that right! Even with the huge star cast,  Thugs of Hindostan could only make Rs 146 Crore at the box office at the end of week 2.

Just today, Taran Adarsh tweeted about Bhadhai Ho crossing Rs 200 Crore worldwide and crossed the collection of Thugs Of Hindostan. The obvious contrast between the two movies isn’t just their star cast, it is also the huge gap between their budgets as Thugs had an enormous budget of approx Rs 250 Crore while Badhai Ho’s budget was just Rs 30 Crore.

This proves that a new era in B-town has begun. Now, films with big stars and budgets do not have guaranteed success and small films with good story and talent have a bright future!
