The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has ordered 23 cuts to Tiger Shroff’s new film, Baaghi 4, a move that has resulted in a final runtime of 2 hours, 37 minutes, and 5 seconds (157.05 minutes). The film, which was passed with an ‘A’ certificate, underwent extensive visual and audio deletions before its release.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the Examining Committee requested the removal of a wide range of scenes. Key among the visual cuts were scenes depicting violence and religious insensitivity, including a shot where a knife is thrown towards a statue of Jesus Christ and another where a character stands on a coffin. The CBFC also ordered the removal of scenes showing throats being cut, hands being chopped off, and goons being killed with swords. A shot of a person lighting a cigarette from a ‘niranjan diya’ and another from an amputated hand were also deleted. Additionally, a frontal nude scene was “hidden,” and a shot of a character rubbing their hand on a girl’s hip was replaced.
The film’s audio was also heavily censored. Several words and phrases were muted or replaced, including ‘condom’ in the line “Bhai tujhe condom mein hi rehna chahiye tha.” The words ‘bhang b*****a’, ‘b****e’, and ‘fingering’ were also either muted or replaced with more appropriate terms.
Initially, the film’s runtime was 2 hours, 43 minutes, and 50 seconds (163.50 minutes). After the initial CBFC review, the Baaghi 4 team voluntarily removed an additional 19 scenes, totaling 6 minutes and 45 seconds, to further trim the film’s length.
Directed by A Harsha and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Baaghi 4 is the fourth installment in the action series. It stars Tiger Shroff in the lead role, with Sanjay Dutt in a negative role, and features Harnaaz Sindhu, Shreyas Talpade, and Sonam Bajwa in prominent roles. The film releases in theatres today.
