In a surprising turn of events, AR Rahman and bassist Mohini Dey have found themselves at the center of swirling rumours after both announced personal developments on the same day. On Tuesday, Rahman’s wife, Saira Banu, confirmed their separation after 29 years of marriage. Hours later, Mohini Dey revealed she had parted ways with her husband, Mark Hurtsuch.

The coincidental timing of the announcements led to online speculation about a connection between the two events. However, Mohini Dey broke her silence to shut down the rumours, urging people to respect her privacy during this difficult time.

Taking to Instagram, Dey addressed the speculations and criticised the spread of misinformation. “I’ve been getting a humongous amount of requests for interviews, and I know exactly what it’s about. I have to respectfully turn each one down because I am not interested in fueling ABSOLUTE BS,” she wrote. She added that her energy would not be wasted on baseless rumours and asked everyone to honor her request for privacy.

Meanwhile, Rahman’s son, Ameen, also took to Instagram to refute the rumours linking his father to Mohini. Sharing a picture of Rahman with an infant, Ameen called the speculations “baseless” and expressed disappointment over the disrespect shown to his father’s legacy.

“My father is a legend, not just for his incredible contributions but for the values, respect, and love he has earned over the years. It’s disheartening to see false and baseless rumours being spread,” Ameen wrote. He urged people to refrain from engaging in or amplifying such misinformation, emphasizing the importance of truth and respect.

The news of AR Rahman’s separation from Saira Banu, his wife of nearly three decades, has left fans shocked. Known for maintaining a low-profile personal life, the Oscar-winning composer has not yet commented publicly on the matter.

As the situation continues to unfold, both Rahman and Dey have appealed to the public to avoid making unwarranted assumptions and to focus on respecting their privacy during these challenging times.
