Bhumi Pednekar is one of the most talented and versatile actors in Bollywood. She has impressed the audience with her powerful performances in films like ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, and more. But her latest film ‘Bhakshak’ has taken her career to a new level.
‘Bhakshak’ is a hard-hitting thriller that exposes the dark reality of child trafficking in India. Bhumi plays the role of Vaishali Singh, a fearless journalist who exposes the nexus of corrupt politicians, police, and criminals behind this heinous crime. The film has received rave reviews from critics and viewers alike and has been hailed as a game-changer for Indian cinema.
How SRK and Gauri Khan made ‘Bhakshak’ possible
But do you know who are the people behind this brilliant film? None other than the superstar couple Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan. Yes, you read that right. SRK and Gauri Khan are the producers of ‘Bhakshak’, and they handpicked Bhumi for the lead role.
In a recent Instagram post, Bhumi thanked SRK and Gauri Khan for choosing her for this character and expressed her gratitude for their support.
She wrote, “Today we stand victorious. We felt the impact. Let’s not stop. If our film made you feel and the next time you see injustice big or small, do your bit 🙂 We all have a Vaishali Singh in us. Thank you, my incredible team #Bhakshak. And a special thank you @iamsrk @gaurikhan for making this happen. I will always be full of gratitude for you for making me a part of Bhakshak.”
How ‘Bhakshak’ changed Bhumi’s life
Bhumi also shared a video on her Instagram account, where she recites a dialogue from the film that sums up the message of the film. She says, “Have you forgotten to empathize with others’ pain? Do you still count yourself among humans? Or have you deemed yourself a devourer?”
She captioned the video, “Jab #bhakshak shuru ki thi tab @justpulkit ne kahan tha, dekhna Bhumi ye kahaani logon ko kabhi chhodh nahi payegi. Shooting this film was full of many moments that still overwhelm me. Our ‘story’ was reality for these children. They were so young that they probably didn’t even know what was happening with them. This thought kept us going. We have to make a film free of all corruption and with all the right intentions. This one is beyond a hit or flop. It’s about how deeply it affects you when you watch it.”
Bhumi has poured her heart and soul into this film, and it shows on the screen. She has also proved her mettle as an actor who can pull off any role with ease and conviction. ‘Bhakshak’ has not only given her a new identity but also a new purpose in life.
